Lithuania Activates Emergency Alerts and Closes Airport After Drone Detected Near Belarus Border

Lithuania issued a national drone alert and suspended flights at Vilnius International Airport after detecting an unidentified object near the Belarusian border.President Gitanas Nauseda and Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene were moved to safety while NATO air policing was activated across the Baltic region.The alert, which was lifted after forty minutes without any drone entering the country, highlighted rising security tensions for the EU and NATO following the Russia-Ukraine war.Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys suggested that electronic jamming might be responsible for diverting aircraft into regional airspace to cause instability.
