AT&T Commits $250 Billion to Build Nationwide Fiber 5G and Satellite

AT&T is committing more than $250 billion over five years to expand fiber, 5G and satellite coverage nationwide to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing and remote work demand.The plan replaces legacy copper with future-ready fiber networks, accelerates a collaboration with AST SpaceMobile to reach remote communities, and strengthens FirstNet while scaling AT&T Dynamic Defense to improve network security for first responders.John Stankey says the investment includes major hiring and training to equip roughly 110,000 employees, support for over 100 million customers and 2.5 million businesses, and steps to open networks to innovators to secure the connected economy.
