Historic Floods Swamp Southeastern Missouri as 90+ Water Rescues, State of Emergency Follow

Historic rainfall is producing catastrophic flash floods in southeastern Missouri and forcing more than 90 water rescues after thunderstorms dropped between 6 and 12 inches near the Black River.About 20 people were rescued after a structure collapsed at the Bearcat Getaway campground in Reynolds County and Missouri State Highway Patrol crew members abandoned an entangled boat and were recovered without injury.Governor Mike Kehoe declared a state of emergency, activated the Missouri National Guard and urban search-and-rescue teams, and officials warn river levels may keep rising as homes in Lesterville and major roads remain submerged or impassable.
