Environmental Protection Agency Suspends Summer Smog Rules to Lower USA Gas Prices During the Iran War

The Environmental Protection Agency suspended summer smog regulations on E15 gasoline to lower fuel prices driven by the ongoing military conflict with Iran.Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the waiver will run from May 1 through May 20 as the USA releases emergency oil reserves and removes federal barriers on fuel blends. To stabilize the market the administration released 173 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and waived the Jones Act to facilitate domestic shipping. While the move aims to reduce costs experts warn that increased ethanol use could raise food prices and cause respiratory health problems due to higher ozone levels.
