Brennan Sues to Preserve Records, Names Trump and Top DOJ Officials

John Brennan files a federal lawsuit seeking a court order to preserve records from Justice Department and White House investigations that he says target him and threaten his defense. The complaint names President Donald Trump, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel and asks a judge to require preservation of communications at the DOJ, the White House, ODNI and the CIA.Brennan is the subject of two DOJ criminal probes, including a grand jury inquiry and a 2023 allegation that he lied to Congress about US intelligence assessments of Russian interference in the 2016 election. The filing, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb, highlights the addition of Justice Department consultant John Yoo and identifies U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones and counselor Joseph DiGenova as figures whose involvement raises concerns about politicized prosecutions.
