Nancy Pelosi Launches Institute at UC Berkeley to Train Students on Congress and Democracy

Nancy Pelosi is opening the Nancy Pelosi Institute for Representative Democracy at UC Berkeley in January, with $35M raised toward a $50M fundraising goal and plans to serve roughly 500 students annually.Pelosi, who is retiring after nearly four decades in Congress, will co-teach a course on Congress with Eric Schickler and will commute from San Francisco to lead courses, visiting-fellow appointments and public programs.UC Berkeley is anchoring the institute in its political science department and the program will host two visiting fellows each year, an annual public forum and a permanent exhibit chronicling Pelosi's congressional career.Programming will fund faculty research and public events focused on climate change, wealth inequality, electoral reform, criminal justice and the role of artificial intelligence in representative governance.
