Marco Rubio Urges Gulf Leaders to Back Switzerland Ceasefire Deal and Rejects Hormuz Tolls

Marco Rubio is visiting the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain to press Gulf leaders to accept a memorandum of understanding negotiated in Switzerland by Vice President JD Vance that pauses hostilities with Iran.Rubio warns that a $300B Iran investment fund is conditional on Tehran ending support for proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis and pushes for concrete steps on missile programs and nuclear inspections. He rejects any Iranian plan to charge passage fees through the Strait of Hormuz, calls such tolls illegal under international law and says unfrozen Iranian assets are controlled for humanitarian purchases by the US.Rubio will continue to Kuwait and Bahrain to reassure partners targeted by Iranian missiles and drones, press for verification mechanisms and push for regional measures to prevent a return to wider hostilities.
