A 56-year-old woman died Monday night after falling into an uncovered Con Edison manhole in Midtown Manhattan.The victim fell ten feet after exiting her Mercedes-Benz near the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 52nd Street.Responding NYPD officers discovered the woman unresponsive before transporting her to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.Con Edison is now investigating why the maintenance hole was left unsecured without proper safety barricades.
