Food and Drug Administration Recalls Oysters and Clams for Norovirus Risk
The Food and Drug Administration issues a multistate recall of raw oysters harvested by Drayton Harbor Oyster Company and Manila clams harvested by Lummi Indian Business Council after a cluster of norovirus‑like illnesses is linked to consumption. The Food and Drug Administration says the products were harvested from Drayton Harbor between February 13 and March 3 and were distributed to restaurants and retailers in nine states including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Oregon and Washington. The Food and Drug Administration urges businesses to stop selling or serving the affected shellfish, to dispose of product and thoroughly sanitize surfaces, and advises consumers with symptoms to contact their health care provider and report illness to local health departments while the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference and health agencies continue to investigate.
