Former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko was arrested while attempting to leave by train after being charged with money laundering and criminal organization.The National Anti-Corruption Bureau alleges that Herman Halushchenko participated in a $100M kickback scheme involving the state nuclear agency Energoatom and businessman Timur Mindich.Investigators claim that $7.4M was transferred to accounts controlled by the family of Herman Halushchenko, while over 1.3M Swiss francs and €2.4M in cash were delivered to relatives in Switzerland.This escalation in the Midas investigation highlights the ongoing efforts of Volodymyr Zelensky to purge government corruption as the country seeks membership in the EU.
