World Weather Attribution Finds Climate Change Supercharging Heatwave as Germany Faces 41°C

World Weather Attribution now says human-caused climate change has amplified the European heatwave, raising daytime temperatures by at least 3.5°C and nights by 2.4°C compared with similar events fifty years ago and warning that hospitals, transport and power grids must accelerate adaptation.Germany faces forecasts of localized highs above 41°C along the Upper Rhine and in Rhine-Main while forecasters warn that eastern states may see low to mid 40s later in the week, with Karsten Brandt, Dominik Jung and Oliver Reuter describing the outbreak as among the most severe on record. The heat has already caused major infrastructure failures, including a power outage in Rüsselsheim and heat damage forcing sections of Autobahn to close, prompted cultural cancellations and emergency measures such as a Barmer Krankenkasse medical hotline and a temporary ban on public alcohol sales in Paris.
