Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau Released Under Supervised Release After Empire State Climb

Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau were released from custody under supervised release after prosecutors charged them following their ascent of the Empire State Building antenna, and a radio exchange about the stunt between an NYPD helicopter pilot and a LaGuardia air traffic controller has gone viral.Prosecutors allege the pair breached a locked door on the 104th floor, reached the 1,454-foot transmitter and forced emergency responders to climb more than 1,250 feet to intercept them after power to the antenna was shut down.Court filings list as many as eight counts including felony reckless endangerment, burglary and criminal mischief, and police recorded footage of the arrest on body cameras that prosecutors say will be part of the evidence. The couple, who have appeared in the Netflix documentary “Skywalkers: A Love Story,” say defense attorneys will review prosecutors’ evidence and no plea has been entered as the case remains pending.
