Yoon Suk Yeol was sentenced to life in prison following a conviction for rebellion related to his failed 2024 martial law decree.Judge Ji Gwi-yeon ruled that the leader led an illegal insurrection to seize power by deploying military forces to the National Assembly.The court also sentenced former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun to thirty years for his role in planning the short-lived coup attempt.Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo received twenty-three years as the judicial decision marked the first such life sentence for a leader since 1996.
