Venezuelan authorities released three former police officers who had been detained since 2003 for their roles in a 2002 coup.The amnesty comes under an initiative led by interim president Delcy Rodriguez who faces pressure from the US after the capture of Nicolas Maduro.Although the government reports thousands of beneficiaries, the human rights organization Foro Penal estimates hundreds remain incarcerated.Recent releases coincide with the wider parliamentary plan to free three hundred individuals by the end of the current week.
