Israel Expands Lebanon Campaign, Displacing Nearly 700,000 People

Israeli officials tell the Financial Times they expect the campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon to last longer than the war with Iran, and France has offered to help disarm Hezbollah while reports say Israel planned an offensive before strikes on Iran.Humanitarian agencies including UNICEF and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees report nearly 700,000 people displaced, about 110,000 sheltering in roughly 500 government centers and scarce water, food and sanitation causing daily child deaths at rates of roughly ten per day with 83 children killed and 254 injured.Lebanon says it proposed direct talks to the Donald Trump administration to secure a halt to strikes but was rebuffed by Israeli and US officials, and Israeli security sources and the Times of Israel say rockets struck central Israel without public warning and injured 14.
