Two California College Students Die After Being Swept Into the Ocean by a Sneaker Wave Incident

Two college students died following an accident where a sneaker wave swept them into the Pacific Ocean near Santa Cruz.Harshita Nair and Mahial Sran were trapped by rising tides in a narrow keyhole passage between Panther Beach and Yellow Bank Beach.Rescue swimmers from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and Cal Fire transported the women to Dominican Hospital after recovering them from the surf.The National Weather Service continues to warn visitors about dangerous rip currents and high tides causing multiple recent coastal incidents.
