Europol Operation Leads to 57 Arrests After Online Network Drugged and Sexually Assaulted Women

Europol and the National Crime Agency say an international police operation has exposed an online network that drugs and sexually assaults women, producing 57 arrests across seven countries and eight arrests in the UK.Investigators link over 270 individuals to the forum and say Project Medusa, which began in April, identified more than 150 offenders and victims and helped to secure recent convictions including Dominique Pelicot’s 20-year sentence in the Gisele Pelicot case.Authorities and advocates, including Nigel Leary and Siobhan Blake, warn that sedation causes amnesia and under-reporting, and they are urging survivors to come forward while pushing for stronger regulation of encrypted platforms that enable coordination and the spread of abusive material.
