An independent law firm hired in 2024 finds 70 allegations of sexual misconduct at the Interlochen Center for the Arts implicating 47 faculty and staff, including accusations against Jeffrey Epstein. Two former students describe unwanted touching at a lodge that bore Epstein’s name, a paid trip to New York in which he was handsy, and a massage at his home; the lodge was stripped of his name after his 2008 conviction and later demolished after the Department of Justice released files.Interlochen has handed names to local authorities, says none accused still work at the school, more than a third of the accused are deceased, and the school apologizes while saying current safety policies are substantially stronger and it will cooperate with further inquiries.
