The US Supreme Court, led by Justice
Samuel A. Alito Jr., temporarily blocked a lower court ruling that had declared Texas' 2026 congressional redistricting plan likely racial discrimination.
This allows Texas to use the new GOP-favored map during the March 2026 congressional primaries while the Court reviews the appeal. The plan, supported by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott, aims to add five Republican-leaning districts and faces legal challenges from Black and Hispanic voters.
