US Navy Suspends Search for Commander Gabriel Edwards and Orders Posthumous Promotion as Probe

The US Navy identifies Commander Gabriel Edwards as the sailor missing after an MH-60S Sea Hawk made an emergency water landing and suspends the search after more than 102 hours.Three crew members are rescued and returned to the USS George H.W. Bush, the Navy says, but the search covered more than 14,000 square miles without finding Edwards and officials report no indication of hostile action.Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao directs a posthumous promotion to captain, Rear Admiral Todd Cimicata praises Edwards's service, and investigators continue to examine mechanical, environmental and human factors while mental health teams support the crew and family.
