US Reopens Caracas Embassy Following Seven Year Hiatus and the Capture of Leader Nicolas Maduro

The US reopened its embassy in Caracas on March 30 after a seven-year closure following the capture of Nicolas Maduro.Veteran diplomat Laura Dogu is leading the newly restored mission to engage with interim leader Delcy Rodriguez.The reopening comes as Venezuela regains control of its Washington mission while opening its oil sector to US firms.Embassy staff completed significant building repairs for mold damage after operations were moved to Colombia in 2019.
