Steeve Rouyar Returns to France After Release From Togolese Prison

Steeve Rouyar arrived in France on Thursday following his release from a Togolese prison where he had been held since June for allegedly undermining state security.The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a Togolese judicial decision allowed the return of the 44-year-old accountant who was arrested during rare anti-government demonstrations in Lomé.His release coincided with a year-end pardon of 1,511 prisoners granted by Faure Gnassingbé after months of protests against a new constitution and rising living costs.
