Trump Oil Embargo Deepens Cuba Blackout as National Grid Collapse Leaves 10M Without Power

Cuba's national grid collapses again and the state company UNE says about 10M people are without electricity while investigations continue. This is the third full shutdown of the SEN this year and the eighth major outage in nearly two years after months of rolling blackouts across the island.Fuel shortages tightened since January following threats of tariffs and an oil embargo enforced by US President Donald Trump, and the last foreign oil shipment from Russia only covered about two weeks of demand. With 11 of 16 thermoelectric units offline and diesel and fuel-oil motors stalled for lack of fuel, national generation is roughly 935MW against a peak near 3,100MW, forcing widespread outages, halted transport and canceled surgeries.
