Donald Trump hosted Mayor-elect
Zohran Kwame Mamdani at the
White House for a 40-minute meeting that marked a shift from prior hostility between the two leaders. They discussed critical issues facing New York, including housing affordability, public safety, and infrastructure funding, with Trump expressing support for some of Mamdani's progressive policies.
Both agreed to pressure utility company Con Edison to lower fuel prices, and Trump praised Mamdani's leadership potential during their joint press conference.
