Despite efforts by over 80 countries including the UK and the EU, oil-producing nations such as Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, and India blocked stronger commitments, prioritizing voluntary enhancements. The summit also pledged to triple climate adaptation funding for poorer nations to $120 billion by 2035, while Germany committed €1 billion to conserve the Amazon rainforest, launching a new Tropical Forest Forever Facility as well.
