Cuba's Supreme Popular Tribunal has sentenced former Economy Minister Alejandro Gil Fernández to life in prison for espionage and economic crimes.Gil, 61, who served as minister from 2018 to February 2024, also received an additional 20-year sentence for continuous corruption, forgery of public documents, influence peddling, and tax fraud.The court did not specify the nature of the espionage acts or the foreign entity involved in the trials held in secrecy.
