WHO Declares Ebola Emergency in Congo as Rare Virus Strain Spreads Across Borders Into Uganda

The WHO has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo a public health emergency of international concern.Over 900 suspected cases and 220 deaths have been recorded as the rare Bundibugyo virus spreads into Uganda.Conflict and attacks on medical centers continue to complicate containment efforts for health workers on the ground.Regional authorities have secured a 319 million dollar budget to scale up the response after admitting containment efforts are lagging.
