Journalist Estefany Rodríguez Released From Federal Custody After Being Detained During Traffic Stop

Colombian journalist Estefany Rodríguez was released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody on a bond of ten thousand dollars after fifteen days of detention. Her attorneys claim the arrest in Nashville was a retaliatory act for her reporting on immigration enforcement and violated her constitutional rights during her jail time. The Committee to Protect Journalists warned that such detentions could chill press freedom for reporters covering sensitive topics like immigration while living in the US.During her stay in Alabama and Louisiana the reporter was allegedly subjected to isolation and harsh chemical treatments before a judge ordered her release this week.
