Thomas Massie, Don Bacon, and Kevin Kiley joined Democrats in a 214-217 vote to defeat a procedural rule designed to shield Donald Trump's tariff authority from congressional challenges.Speaker Mike Johnson sought to delay votes on import taxes until July 31 to allow the Supreme Court to rule on the legality of using emergency powers for trade levies.Following the defeat, Gregory Meeks and other Democrats may now force a vote to terminate the 35% tariffs on Canadian goods that Donald Trump justified by citing border security concerns.
