Fatalities at Heavenly Mountain Resort Follow Deadly Avalanche

Authorities are investigating two separate skiing fatalities at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday after a 33-year-old and a 58-year-old man died in unrelated incidents near the California-Nevada border.This double tragedy follows the deadliest avalanche in California history earlier this week at Castle Peak, which claimed eight lives including Kate Morse, Carrie Atkin, Liz Clabaugh, Danielle Keatley, Caroline Sekar, and Kate Vitt.The region remains under high alert as additional deaths were reported at Northstar California Resort and surrounding areas during a week of treacherous conditions for winter sports.
