Spahn Proposes Term-Sharing After Green Win as Major Parties Fall

Jens Spahn proposed a power-sharing deal in Baden-W'u00fcrttemberg where Cem 'd00d6zdemir and Manuel Hagel would split the five-year term as state governor following a narrow Green Party victory.The Social Democratic Party fell to a historic low of 5.5 percent as industrial workers from Bosch and Mercedes-Benz shifted support to the Alternative for Germany.While the Green Party secured 30.2 percent of the vote, the Christian Democratic Union won an equal number of parliamentary seats, prompting calls for a rotating leadership.The Alternative for Germany reached its best western result with 18.8 percent while the Free Democratic Party was completely removed from the regional parliament.
