Delcy Rodríguez Signs Amnesty Law to Release Political Prisoners

Interim President Delcy Rodríguez signed a historic amnesty law on February 19 to release hundreds of political prisoners following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by USA forces in January.The legislation, which was approved unanimously by the National Assembly, aims to free activists and journalists while excluding those convicted of crimes against humanity, corruption, or drug trafficking.Tribunals have been granted a 15-day deadline to review cases and oversee the closure of the notorious El Helicoide detention center in Caracas.Opposition leader Juan Pablo Guanipa was released under the new measure but remains under house arrest after denouncing the law as a form of political blackmail.
