The World Trade Organisation Warns of Food Scarcity as Iran Conflict Shuts the Strait of Hormuz

Jean-Marie Paugam warned that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following US and Israeli strikes on Iran has halted a third of global fertilizer trade.Fertilizer prices such as urea have surged to seven hundred dollars per ton as major producers in the Gulf region face severe export disruptions.The supply squeeze threatens global food security and could push forty-five million people into acute hunger during the spring planting season.
