US immigration authorities in Florida have detained Alexandre Ramagem, the former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency and ex-federal deputy, following a traffic violation in Orlando that triggered a review of his migration status.Ramagem is currently a fugitive from Brazilian justice, having been sentenced to 16 years in prison by the Supreme Federal Court for his central role in a 2022 coup plot following the election of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.The Brazilian Federal Police confirmed that the arrest coincides with international cooperation efforts to advance an extradition request.
