The European Commission will impose a temporary €3 customs levy on small retail parcels under €150 starting July 1, charged per type of item and enforced on sellers registered under the Import One-Stop Shop.The measure replaces national parcel levies and runs until July 1, 2028, targeting surging imports from platforms such as SHEIN, Temu and AliExpress after inspections found more than 60% of checked goods violated EU safety rules.Brussels will require mandatory product-reference details from November 1, designate marketplaces as deemed importers, add a handling fee to aid customs and pursue anti-circumvention steps to prevent rerouting through third countries.
