Two Hampshire Officers Probed After Henry Nowak Dies Handcuffed While Bleeding in Southampton

The Independent Office for Police Conduct opens a probe into two Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police officers after 18-year-old Henry Nowak dies handcuffed and bleeding on a Southampton street.Bodycam footage shows Henry Nowak telling officers he has been stabbed and that he cannot breathe while officers restrain and handcuff him and initially treat the attacker, Vickrum Digwa, as the injured person.Vickrum Digwa is serving a life term with a minimum of 21 years after jurors convicted him of murder for attacking Henry Nowak with a 21-centimetre kirpan, and prosecutors say his claim of a racist assault was false. The IOPC says it will examine whether officers failed to recognise a medical emergency, whether control-room decisions delayed help, if race or religion influenced actions, and the case has prompted protests, political criticism and formal complaints by Mark Nowak.
