Trump Administration Ordered To Outline Plan To Refund $166B Tariffs

The Trump administration must tell the Court of International Trade how Customs and Border Protection will refund about $166 billion collected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, proposing Automated Commercial Environment updates to consolidate and pay roughly 330,000 importers.Trade leaders at the American Apparel & Footwear Association summit in Washington, D.C., including Steve Lamar and Lizanne Kindler, said the Supreme Court decision and fallback options such as Section 122 and potential Section 301 investigations are forcing companies to reshape procurement and supply chains.Judge Richard Eaton and trade lawyers like Peter Harrell cautioned that technical limits, appeals and more than 2,000 lawsuits could delay payouts even though Customs and Border Protection says it could begin issuing refunds by late April.
