Wes Moore Signs Law Blocking Trump's Local Immigration Enforcement

Maryland Governor Wes Moore signed legislation prohibiting local law enforcement from participating in federal immigration enforcement as Donald Trump expands the 287(g) program.The federal effort includes $150B in funding for 10,000 new ICE agents and street-level arrest powers that were previously restricted under Barack Obama and Joe Biden.While Maryland House Speaker Joseline Peña-Melnyk cited civil rights protections, DHS warned the law will decrease safety and increase the federal workload in the state.
