Mojtaba Khamenei Named Iran Supreme Leader After Father Is Killed

Mojtaba Khamenei has been appointed as the new Supreme Leader of Iran by the Assembly of Experts after his father died in a missile strike.The promotion of the 56-year-old cleric follows the deaths of Ali Khamenei and other senior officials during recent military actions by Israel and the USA.The Kremlin and Vladimir Putin expressed support for the transition while Israeli officials warned that any leader sharing the previous ideology remains a target.Although the Revolutionary Guard has deployed forces to ensure stability, analysts suggest the move toward hereditary succession could increase internal dissatisfaction.
