Bush crashes in the Arabian Sea and completes an emergency water landing; three of four crew are rescued and remain stable aboard the carrier while one airman is missing and a search continues.US Naval Forces Central Command and US 5th Fleet say there is no indication of hostile action and that Navy ships and aircraft are conducting surface and air searches for the missing airman. The helicopter, flown by Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 5, performs search, transport and plane-guard duties, and Navy investigators are examining maintenance records, flight data and operations to determine a cause. The carrier is deployed near Iran during ongoing diplomatic talks and the incident follows a recent US military helicopter crash in the Gulf of Oman, prompting renewed operational scrutiny in the region.
