Trump's 90,000-Square-Foot White House Ballroom Wins Design Approval

The USA Commission of Fine Arts unanimously approved Donald Trump's 90,000-square-foot ballroom project intended to replace the former White House East Wing.This decision by the panel of all-Trump appointees accelerates the redevelopment of a structure projected to be larger than the main residence itself.The approval follows the October 2025 demolition of the original wing and comes despite more than 2,000 negative public comments and an ongoing preservation lawsuit.Architect Shalom Baranes presented animated models for the site before a final review by the National Capital Planning Commission scheduled for March 5.
