Gisella Cardia, a self-proclaimed clairvoyant, has been charged with fraud alongside her husband Gianni Cardia. An investigation revealed that the couple collected nearly €400,000 from pilgrims near Rome, promising the funds would benefit a children's hospital, but instead used them for personal purchases and to enhance the pilgrimage site. Luigi Avella, a former follower who donated €123,000, aims to seek compensation for damages and will join the trial as a civil party alongside his wife Francesca Pepe and Trevignano Romano’s mayor Claudia Maciucchi.
