Paul Thomas Anderson and Chloé Zhao are among the top film nominees for the 78th DGA Awards ahead of the ceremony on February 7. The guild also recognized Guillermo del Toro, Ryan Coogler, and Josh Safdie in the theatrical feature category, which often mirrors the eventual Oscar winner for best director. Hasan Hadi and Eva Victor received nominations for first-time theatrical feature following the path of last year's winner RaMell Ross.The DGA award has a strong track record, with 20 of the last 23 top directing prize recipients also winning the Academy Award for director.Earlier in the week, the DGA announced nominations for television, documentary, and other categories.
