At Least 171 Bodies Found in Mass Graves After M23 Rebels Retreat

Governor Jean-Jacques Purusi announced the discovery of mass graves containing 171 bodies in eastern Congo after the withdrawal of M23 rebels.The remains were found in Kiromoni and Kavimvira near the city of Uvira following a Congolese military offensive in the South Kivu province.Local civil society leader Yves Ramadhani accused M23 of executing victims suspected of being army affiliates as the group retreated from the area.
