Stig Millehaugen was found dead in his cell at Kongsvinger prison while under investigation for a recent murder. Police prosecutor Ida Christiansen Jordan ordered an autopsy following the unexpected discovery on Thursday morning. The convicted killer was a suspect in the 2025 death of Metkel Betew and was previously serving a sentence for a 2009 gang execution.Investigators have launched technical and tactical measures to determine the cause of death for the man often described as the most dangerous in Norway. Christian Hatlo had previously alleged that the shooting of Metkel Betew was a contract killing carried out while Stig Millehaugen was on temporary release.The death ends the criminal career of a man who spent half of his adult life in prison and was known for several high-profile escapes. Authorities notified his relatives on Thursday after the body was discovered and secured for the ongoing investigation into his death.
