Syrian Government and Kurdish SDF Agree on Full State Integration
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Kurdish commander Mazloum Abdi reached a landmark agreement on January 30 to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces and their autonomous administration into the national state. The deal follows recent military advances by Damascus that saw government troops take control of the al-Omar oil field and the Tabqa dam while pushing Kurdish forces back to their strongholds in Hassakeh and Qamishli.Beyond military integration, the agreement grants Kurdish citizens formal recognition of their language and cultural rights, including nationality for stateless residents and the designation of the Kurdish New Year as a national holiday.
