The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), led by Chairman Brendan Carr, has launched an investigation into the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) over allegations of misleading editing of former President Donald Trump's January 6, 2021 speech. The BBC aired a program titled "Trump: A Second Chance" that fused two parts of Trump's speech, creating the false impression that he incited supporters to storm the Capitol. The controversy led to the resignations of BBC Director-General Tim Davie and BBC News chief Deborah Turness, while Trump threatened a defamation lawsuit seeking up to $5 billion in damages.
