Scientists have documented the first known case of orcas and Pacific white-sided dolphins forming a strategic alliance to hunt large Chinook salmon off northern Vancouver Island in Canada.This unprecedented interspecies cooperation, captured in footage from 2020, allows dolphins to locate deep-water prey with their sonar while orcas tear the fish into shareable pieces, a finding published in "Scientific Reports".
