Bhikkhu Pannakara led 18 Buddhist monks into Washington on Tuesday after a 108-day peace pilgrimage covering 2,300 miles from Fort Worth, Texas.The journey, which aimed to promote national healing and mindfulness, concluded with an interfaith reception at the Washington National Cathedral hosted by Bishop Mariann Budde.Despite a car accident that led to the amputation of Maha Dam Phommasan's leg, the monks completed their trek and now plan to request that lawmakers recognize Vesak as a national holiday in the USA.
