California Launches Grant Program to Fund Wildfire Property Protection

New financial assistance became available Friday after California implemented a law to help homeowners in high wildfire risk areas improve property safety.The Safe Homes grant program, authored by Lisa Calderon with an initial 3 million dollar budget, provides low- and middle-income residents funding for fire-safe roofs and ember-resistant zones.Michael Soller from the Insurance Department stated that an application portal should open by March as state officials seek additional funding from FEMA and federal sources.
